LPG racket in Palam – Delhi Police Bust, 3 Held, 45 Seized
Delhi Police Smash LPG Racket in Palam, Three Arrested and 45 Cylinders Seized
Delhi Police have dismantled a significant illegal LPG gas storage and refilling operation functioning out of a residential area in Palam, officials confirmed. The crackdown, led by the Palam Village Police Station team, resulted in the apprehension of three individuals and the seizure of 45 Bharat Gas cylinders.
The unauthorized activity was discovered at a vacant plot in Adarsh Gali, Palam Village. During routine patrolling on March 28, Head Constable Rajesh received crucial information regarding the unlawful storage. A police team comprising SI R.P. Meena, HC Rajesh, and HC Lalit Kumar acted promptly, raiding the location at approximately 7:00 a.m.
Upon inspection, a tempo vehicle was found inside the plot with its rear side open. A large number of domestic LPG cylinders belonging to Bharat Gas were found stored both within the vehicle and in the open area. Officials also discovered that active illegal refilling was underway, with gas being transferred from domestic cylinders to other bottles using specialized nozzles and a weighing machine, in total disregard for safety norms.
The three accused have been identified as Anaar Singh, a resident of Najafgarh, who worked as a driver; Satyaveer, a resident of Dabri, a delivery boy; and Vikas Kumar, a resident of Palam, working as an assistant delivery boy. During questioning, the individuals failed to produce any valid license or permission for storing LPG cylinders. They revealed the plot had been rented specifically for this illegal storage and refilling racket to achieve wrongful financial gain.
Investigations further revealed that the illegal operation was allegedly being carried out by staff associated with Blue Flame Gas Service in Janakpuri. Officials from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Dwarka, along with representatives from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and the Food Safety Department, inspected the site and confirmed the unlawful operations. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Essential Commodities Act. Police have seized all 45 cylinders, the tempo vehicle, and the equipment used for refilling.
